Three-time Feature Writer of the Year award winner, Appleyard joins the debate on how the press report the future.

Future Foundation, the leading international and consumer futures business have teamed up with The Media Society to bring you a special evening event looking at how the media report the future, later this month in central London.

Leading the panel will be Future Foundation co-founder and chair, Melanie Howard. With over 20 years experience in social trends forecasting, Melanie is widely recognised as one of the most knowledgeable and versatile practitioners in this field, having designed and directed a vast amount of strategic futures projects across a whole range of business sectors.

Melanie will be one of five panellists running this debate. She will oversee the evening and ensure that all attendees are involved in the discussion.

Joining Melanie are some of the best in the industry, including Sunday Times columnist Bryan Appleyard; the leading authority on innovation and creativity, Charles Leadbeater; Third City Partner, Gill Brown; and Catherine Mayer, of Time London.

Together they will discuss – is it legitimate to expect informed, rational and accurate reporting about the future from today’s media? With so many sensationalist future forecasts competing for that front page position, how can we trust that what we read about the future truly is the genuine article? Amongst all the media noise in today’s society, how can we select those where the reporting is accurate and informed?
